The project plans for the preservation of the historical character of the museum building while providing for state-of-the-art upgrades. With enhancements like seismic upgrades, both the building and each of the tens of thousands of pieces of art inside will be better protected, notes Kenny Slaught. The project will develop 25 percent more gallery space to make the museum an even more celebrated center of the Santa Barbara community. In all, the renovation project is the most comprehensive the museum has undertaken to date.
