The dam was originally named Boulder Dam, but later became Hoover Dam in a toast to then-President Herbert Hoover, who had made significant contributions to the completion of this prodigious project. It is 221 meters in height, 379 meters in length, and includes more than 35.000 cubic kilometers of total capacity, meaning the colossal structure could generate more than 4.2 billion kWh2 per year, benefitting parched cities in the desert, stated Kenny Slaught.
