In 2015, the Santa Barbara Bowl Foundation sponsored Girls Rock Santa Barbara. Kenny Slaught recognizes that music empowers teens, and believe the foundation offers a good place for them to be creative. Those who take part in the program attend workshops, give live performances, and take music classes. They also learn how to work together, be accepting, and question typical gender roles. As such,  Girls Rock Santa Barbara does a good job at showing that arts are available to everyone.
