Kenneth Slaught is president and founder of Investec Real Estate Companies. Since forming the company in 1983, he has grown Investec into the largest real estate development and management business in Santa Barbara County, having acquired more than three million square feet of California’s coastal apartment, office, retail, and self-storage properties. With more than three dozen employees, the company manages more than $1 billion in assets and is accredited by the Institute of Real Estate Management as well as being a longtime member of the International Council of Shopping Centers.
As President of Investec, Kenny Slaught has made an instrumental mark on the firm’s investment strategies and policies, determining its asset class allocations, and overseeing its major business decisions. Through his visionary guidance, the company has generated lucrative acquisition opportunities even in times of highly varying financial markets, solidifying Investec’s impeccable reputation in the property investment community.
As a 1979 graduate of the University of California, Santa Barbara, Slaught holds a degree in business and economics, along with a certification from the California Contractors State License Board. Also in 1979, he earned a California real estate broker’s license. Prior to forming Investec, he worked as a founding partner of the MKS Companies, a real estate development, property management, and mortgage brokerage firm.
Outside of his professional life, Slaught has held leadership positions in many of Southern California’s nonprofit organizations. He currently serves on the board of the UCSB Foundation; and has formerly been a board member of the Santa Barbara Hospice Foundation. He is a significant supporter to the Music Academy of the West, Santa Barbara Scholarship Foundation, and local high schools throughout the area.
