2015 saw the Santa Barbara Bowl Foundation provide support for the Girls Rock Santa Barbara initiative. Understanding that music is a means to empower young ladies, Kenny Slaught believes this organization creates a supportive environment to further the development of self-confidence and creativity in youngsters. As part of the program, students take music lessons, engage in workshops, give performances, and are encouraged to challenge typical gender stereotypes, collaborate with others, and be open minded. As such, Girls Rock Santa Barbara continues the Santa Barbara Bowl Foundation’s goal of making music and the arts accessible to all.
